THE BEGINNINGS...
More than a century ago, in the heart of the Langhe hills, a land of great food products of unique aromas and taste, Camillo, alongside his grandfather in their small bakery, began the Francone tradition.

CELSO FRANCONE
The young Celso Francone begins his apprenticeship in his grandfather's bakery with a small wood oven.
- 1964 - 1968

1964 - THE BIRTH OF FRANCONE C.
In 1964 Celso Francone moves to Monastero Bormida in Piedmont, in the heart of the land where his primary raw product, wheat, is produced. Here he opens his own small bakery.

1968 – THE BAKERY EXPANDS
The bakery becomes better and better known in the territory and throughout the Valle Bormida. It quickly expands and within a few years begins distributing its products throughout the Province of Asti as well as to the Region of Ligury.
The first Francone Celso Bakery logo. This logo is still visible today in some historical bakeries.
- 1972
HOMEMADE CONFECTIONERY PRODUCTS
In 1972, alongside the production of fresh bread, the company inaugurates its line of homemade confectionery products.
- 1978
BIRTH OF THE CONFECTIONERY INDUSTRY
Sales are continually successful and the trade mark ANTICHE SPECIALITA’ DEL CONVENTO is registered: the company becomes a CONFECTIONERY INDUSTRY.
- 1986
VALLE BORMIDA BAKERY
Sales grow continually. In 1986 the Francone family decides to concentrate its investments in the bakery trade. Thus the birth of PANIFICIO VALLE BORMIDA DI FRANCONE & C. snc.
- 1993 - 1997
THE FIRST CALDOFORNO OUTLET
In 1993 Fabio and Betty, the fourth generation of the family to operate in the Company; continue developing its success.
In 1997 the first CALDOFORNO outlet is born, the first of a chain of bakery shops which today includes many sales outlets throughout Piedmont and Lombardy among others.
- 1998 - 2006
BIRTH OF THE FRANCONE GROUP
Born in 1998, the Francone Group, thanks to important investments in research, development and technology, is today able to serve and satisfy all of its on-trade and off-trade customers with fresh and frozen products. This period sees the launch of the ANTICA GENOA line of products.
CONTINUING ITS DEVELOPMENT
During these important years of company growth, the following moments are turning points:
• 1999: the new plant is inaugurated and sees the start of production of the first frozen focaccia bread;
• 2006: the high technology line for the production of focaccia bread is installed.
