1896

THE BEGINNING

Over a century ago, in the heart of Langhe, land of great food products of unique flavours and aromas, Francone’s history began with grandfather Camillo in his artisan bakery.

1956

CELSO FRANCONE

Grandson Celso Francone decided to continue the tradition, starting to work with the grandfather’s wood oven.

1964 - 1968

THE "FRANCONE C."

In 1964, Celso Francone began expanding his grandfather's business by building a new bakery in Monastero Bormida, in collaboration with his family.

"FRANCONE C." Company was  created.

1968

THE BAKERY EXPANDED

The success of the product went beyond Bormida Valley, leading Celso Francone to create and diffuse the first “FRANCONE C.” brand which is still visible in some historic bakeries.

1972

ARTISAN CONFECTIONERY PRODUCTS

In the ‘70s-‘80s, the company achieved great successes also in the confectionery sector. Celso Francone diversified the activity, creating a Brand for confectionery products: “ANTICHE SPECIALITA’ DEL CONVENTO”. Brand where Francone’s date of foundation is visible: 1896.

1978

THE CONFECTIONERY ACTIVITY WAS FOUNDED

Success was unstoppable. “ANTICHE SPECIALITA’ DEL CONVENTO” brand was upgraded: the company also became a confectionery business.

1986

PANIFICIO VALLE BORMIDA

The growing demand of Francone’s products led Celso to sell the confectionery business and focus the attention on bakery products.

Thus “PANIFICIO VALLE BORMIDA DI FRANCONE & C. snc.” was founded: all resources were focused to meet the sales of bakery products, whose number quickly increased thanks to the success of fine quality products.

1993

FRANCONE’S FOURTH GENERATION AT THE LEAD

Children Fabio and Elisabetta continued the tradition: they implemented new distribution strategies and presented the artisan bakery founded in 1896, which had become an important enterprise, at Italian and international exhibitions.

1997

FIRST CALDOFORNO SHOP

The first CALDOFORNO shop was opened, a store chain that is currently featuring many sales points in Piedmont, Lombardy and other locations.

1998 - 2006

THE FRANCONE GROUP WAS BORN

The Francone Group was founded in 1998. Thanks to significant investments in research, development and technology, it is currently able to serve and satisfy the requests of on-trade and off-trade customers with fresh and frozen products.

THE DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES

Thus the Company’s development process continued, marked by important steps:

In 1999: the new Plant was opened, and the production of frozen focaccias was started.
In 2006: the innovative focaccia production line was inaugurated.

Great expansion and modernization projects are still underway to boost and develop the activity in order to satisfy the increasing product demand in Italy and abroad.
